Free and not so free RTA
I found this at the DIYaudio site. I just might be getting the 1/3 octave version soon. The one octave is free and took literaly 1 minute to download AND install the whole thing.
My laptop has a mic built in so I didn't have to buy one. Going to rudely RTA my stereo this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes/sounds.
Link to the freeware.

"ZPA's will have the same sound essentially as you get from the MS, they just feature a bigger shinier set of balls."

That's a bit of an oxymoron. My experience is, no matter what kind of mic you're looking for, budget mics just aren't great.Wakeup wrote:What are some good mics on a budget!?
RTA mics need flat response across the board. There are some behringer mics that are on the cheaper side of things but probably aren't quite as flat as you'd want for judging systems. Tom has one, maybe he can compare it to the Alpine RTA mic.

I use the 1/3 octave and love it. works well with the DEQ settings as well.
I use a behringer ECM 8000 mic
